Artist are getting involved in raising awareness. Runaway and homelessness youth is a serious problem. It is not a local problem. This is a National problem that many people are becoming more aware of. In November, Ludacris, a Rapper/R & B performer, partnered with the National Runaway Switchboard to promote awareness for National Runaway Prevention month. Most recently, Ludacris hosted Saturday Night Live and performed Runaway Love with Mary J. Blige for the very first time. Cirque du Soleil has chosen Huckleberry House as its’ local charity for their third visit to Columbus. Cirque du Soleil donates premium tickets to youth serving organizations in the cities where they perform. Huckleberry House will benefit 100% from the tickets sales to support the work they do with young people in Franklin County. The Huckleberry House benefit night is Friday, May 18th at the Ohio Expo Center. These premium tickets are $130 through Huckleberry House. Included in the cost, are parking and a reception with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails before the show at The Ohio Historical Society from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. |
The Crisis Program is a voluntary, 24-hour crisis intervention program that empowers youth to make responsible decisions when faced with difficult situations. This includes a 24-hour crisis shelter and crisis hotline (614-294-5553). Licensed and dedicated crisis counselors work with youth and their families to provide crisis intervention, while developing a plan for reconciliation. The average length of stay is three to five days. The Transitional Living Program helps young people learn to live safely and successfully in the community. |
