About Us

Huckleberry House was established in 1970 to provide a safe place for runaway youth in Columbus. Today, we provide many programs to help teens all over Franklin County who are in crisis situations, homeless or runaways.

Our Mission

Reaching young people and their families to build stronger lives.

Why We Are Here

1 in 7 children will run away before the age of 18. Once they are on their own, they don't have anywhere to go or don't know where to get help.

"My parents don't listen to me or even support my feelings."

The most prevalent reason why teenagers run away from home is family dynamics. At Huckleberry House we help teens and support families as they learn new ways to cope with the pressures of life.

"I feel so frightened when my dad drinks."

Some youth run away because they are experiencing unsafe situations and feel there is no other escape. At Huckleberry House we believe that teens should be safe. Our services provide alternatives to dangerous situations youth sometimes encounter.
